The Art of Tess Kane
My name is Tess Kane. I have always LOVED fairies, since the first time I watched Fern Gulley as a little girl. My dad made me a 1:12 scale dollhouse when I was eleven, and ever since I have been in love with all things miniature.
A couple of years ago, I had the idea of sculpting fairies that were more lifelike - rather than the typical figurine fairy with a face that says, " ." I tried out air-drying clay a couple of times, and feared I wouldn't be able to get the look I really wanted.
Well, I later happened upon polymer clay, and the world of One Of A Kind - OOAK. My sister bought the clay for me as a Christmas present, and I am now hooked. I've been so inspired by the work of my fellow artists, I think about what creature I will create next all day long. I have been experimenting with sculpting a bit blindly, though, and still have so much to learn. My last three fairies, Rowen, Kleptra, and Ember, are the ones I am now most proud of, as my first three were a bit "weird-looking". I intend to create much, much more and am so grateful to have found what I like to call "my medium". :D
