"Jack In The Green"
by Faeryspell Creations

"Jack-In-The-Green"

Have you seen Jack-In-The-Green?
With his long tail hanging down.
He sits quietly under every tree ---
in the folds of his velvet gown.
He drinks from the empty acorn cup
the dew that dawn sweetly bestows.
And taps his cane upon the ground ---
signals the snowdrops it's time to grow.

It's no fun being Jack-In-The-Green ---
no place to dance, no time for song.
He wears the colours of the summer soldier ---
carries the green bag all the winter long.

Jack, do you never sleep ---
does the green still run deep in your heart?
Or will these changing times,
motorways, powerlines,
keep us apart?
Well, I don't think so ---
I saw some grass growing through the pavements today.

The rowan, the oak and the holly tree
are the charges left for you to groom.
Each blade of grass whispers Jack-In-The-Green.
Oh Jack, please help me through my winter's night.
And we are the berries on the holly tree.
Oh, the mistlethrush is coming.
Jack, put out the light.

"Jack In the Green" by Jethro Tull

This is my Jack in the Green

His head, torso, feet and hands are entirely handsculpted (no molds used, ever) so there will never be another quite like him again.

His body is a wrapped-wire armature, to allow him to be *very gently* posed in many whimsical positions.

Jack's mischeivious face is handpainted with a blush of artist pigments, colors that I mix myself.

His attire is created of assorted vintage and antique fabrics and furs that I've collected over the years and continually search out for my dolls. It is trimmed with fabric leaves. Jack has horns made from small twigs.

He carries a twig cane, trimmed with fabric flowers, leaves and a real acorn cap, as well as a green brocade bag where he carries his acorn cup and greenery, tied with a scarlet ribbon.

Jack has a wonderful long tail (as the song goes!) it is poseable, and trimmed in mohair and fabric foliage.

Jack in the Green's eyes are semi-precious hematite beads, and his hair is made from moss carefully applied one plait at a time. He is large scale, and approx. 20" tall.

He will come beautifully giftwrapped, and have a certificate signed by the artist (Me!)

All FaerySpell Faeries are carefully and lovingly packaged to arrive safely at their new home. They are sent via USPS Priority Mail, with delivery confirmation.
